Valley residents anticipate cooler temperatures

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) — People in the community say they are ready for cooler weather after experiencing extreme summer heat.

People, like Cynthia Guzman-Beahm, are anticipating the fall season.

“I feel like it’s the last couple, like nights of summer and we’re bringing in the fall. So. And I’m excited that it’s going to cool down a little bit, though,” Guzman-Beahm said.

Zariah and Sophia go to school in Clovis, and look forward to cooler school days.

“We go to school at Clovis West, so it’s really hot and it’s an outdoor school. So, we’re all like walking around and especially at lunchtime, it’s so hot and we all get so sweaty,” Zariah and Sophia said.

Stephen McCoy with the National Weather Service says this summer’s temperatures across the Valley were record-breaking.

“This was definitely a well above average summer that we had. We had multiple days that broke record highs. This was our hottest July on record, even our highest month on record in July for Merced, Madera, Fresno and Bakersfield,” McCoy said.
