20 years to life for DUI crash on Highway 168 that killed girlfriend and hurt friend

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A man was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison after a DUI crash resulted in the death of his girlfriend and seriously injured his friend.

The incident occurred on April 3rd 2022, when 45-year-old Kimsol Ban was driving a Nissan Acura eastbound on Highway 168 near the McKinley Avenue offramp when he veered off the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and crashed into a tree just before midnight.

Ban’s girlfriend, Sophal Srey, was seated in the front passenger seat, and his friend, Tithirry Chheang, was seated in the rear driver ’s-side seat…
