Saturday started with a mix of sun and clouds, but skies turned cloudy by the afternoon, and rain moved in shortly afterward – making it a soggy Saturday night in the Valley. Sunday will also start dry with a mix of sun and clouds, but once again, there will be a chance of rain by the late afternoon and evening. However, this time it won’t be much at all – just a couple of quick showers here and there, then done. Sunshine and seventies will return next week.
Saturday’s storm was weaker but steadier than our violent storm that hammered us last Tuesday. As a result, we enjoyed a steady light rain Saturday night, instead of the severe thunderstorms that spawned 4 tornadoes Tuesday afternoon. Even though the rain never got heavy, rain totals began to add up by early Sunday morning, and everyone’s lawn got a nice drink of free water from the sky. Fresno picked up over 0.60″ of rain, while Reedley saw over 0.85″!
There will still be enough remaining moisture that once the sun starts heating the atmosphere up on Sunday, we may see a few scattered afternoon showers fire up. They should be the quick ‘splash and dash’ showers that last 5 or 10 minutes at the most.
We’ll begin to warm back up after that. Look for highs in the seventies under mostly sunny skies to begin the work week, then we’ll warm into the 80’s as we finish it off. Warmer weather is set to return soon…
