‘Her legacy is not lost’: Potential Madera County Supervisor talks lifetime of service for teacher’s life he cut short

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – You may have heard his name or seen it on one of the many billboards scattered across Madera County: Charles Brook Allen, business owner, school board trustee, and potential District 5 Supervisor – but this lifelong resident of Eastern Madera County says it was his checkered past that pushed him toward a lifetime of service.

“All of this started when I was 21 years old. I. I made the worst decision of my life, and was responsible for a collision that took Ms. Frances Brooks’ life,” he recounted, with tears welling up in his eyes.

The father of one sat down with YourCentralValley.com on Friday to discuss what happened that night in 2000 and how it has shaped his bid for candidacy.

“A dear friend of mine, Jeff Kirby, and I, we were up at Kirkchoff Snow Resort, having a good time snowboarding, and at the end of the day, there were a few drinks involved, and that’s when I made a foolish decision to drive.”…
