Frisco Teen’s Legacy Leads New Effort To Stop Impaired Driving In Texas

Sue Beatty drove her daughter Carly to Texas A&M for her sophomore year and said goodbye like any parent would. She didn’t know it would be the last time she saw her. A few weeks later, the 19-year-old was struck and killed by an impaired driver while walking home.

“She had her whole life ahead of her,” Sue Beatty said. “Carly did not deserve what happened to her. She had hopes and dreams that have now ended…because someone chose to drive impaired.”

Beatty’s grief has turned into advocacy. Her daughter’s story is now part of TxDOT’s newly launched “Drive Sober. No Regrets.” campaign.
