Food insecurity is a reality for many in Dallas County. Fortunately, there are many local resources available for families who need a little extra help. Assistance might come in the form of a food pantry, free baby formula, or pet food assistance. If you or someone you know is in need, please check out the resources below.
During the school year, your family may qualify for free or reduced lunches through the school district. Both Dallas ISD and Richardson ISD offer summer food programs for students and their families as well.
Government Programs
If ongoing assistance is needed, consider applying to a government program.
SNAP :: Families who qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can receive assistance to buy food. Apply online to see if you qualify. SNAP food benefits are put on a Lone Star Card, and can be used like a debit card at any store that accepts SNAP.
