A $14 million DCTA trail system across North Texas is moving in a new direction after Lewisville officials approved a $2.2 million bid to extend a trail that could eventually connect Carrollton, Coppell and Lewisville.
Known officially as the DCTA A-Train Rail Trail, the 19-mile trail connects five A-Train stations across Denton County and is suitable for biking, walking and running. The trail currently connects Denton to Lewisville, with the contract seeking to expand the trail west towards Carrollton and Coppell.
During a July 6 meeting, the Lewisville City Council approved a $2,240,244 construction contract with Garret Shields Infrastructure to build the first segment of the regional trail. The contract marks a new direction for the trail that officially finished construction in December 2019…
