A brand-new national dessert franchise is about to cut the ribbon on its very first storefront, and it’s happening in McKinney. Swrl Cinnamon Roll Factory will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, marking both a soft opening and the debut of the company’s premiere location, before a full grand opening the following day.
The bakery is set up at 2950 Craig Drive, inside Eldorado Plaza at the northwest corner of Eldorado Parkway and Craig Drive, just one block west of U.S. Route 75, according to Carter BloodCare. As Community Impact reports, the shop sells cinnamon rolls and ice cream and can be found on Instagram at @swrlcinnamonrolls. Swrl shares the strip center with CamiCakes Cupcakes, Scotty P’s Hamburgers, and a Carter BloodCare donation center, per Visit McKinney, putting the new bakery in direct sweet-treat competition with its cupcake-slinging neighbor.
A National Concept Chooses McKinney First
Swrl was officially announced on August 5 by Peach Cobbler Factory founder Juan Edgerton as a brand-new national franchise concept, with McKinney tapped as its premiere location, according to The Carey Brand. Franchise developer Will Carey joined the company as co-founder and President of Franchise Development, and the outlet notes the executive team also includes former franchise leaders from Planet Fitness and 7-Eleven — corporate muscle suggesting this dessert shop is built for rapid multi-state expansion rather than a single storefront.
Edgerton has done this before. He originally launched Peach Cobbler Factory as a Nashville food truck back in 2013 before growing it into a franchise network spanning more than 17 states, per The Bama Buzz. That track record of scaling a niche dessert idea into a national brand is likely part of why McKinney was chosen to host Swrl’s very first shop.
Stuff’d Rolls, House-Made Ice Cream, and a Micro-Creamery
