7 years in prison for man charged with leaving the scene of 2025 crash death

A 26-year-old man charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death without rendering aid will serve a seven-year prison term following a judge’s ruling on June 10.

Circuit Judge Barbara Kissner Kwatkosky said Erik Christian Neil Gillis also must serve three years of probation once he’s released from prison, pay fines and court costs, perform 200 hours of community service, and pay a little more than $2,600 in restitution.

Gillis, who has 319 days of credit for time already served at the county jail, faced up to 30 years in prison…
