Firefighters extricate one person from car after three-vehicle crash in Summerfield

Firefighters extricated an injured person from a car after a crash Thursday afternoon on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Summerfield.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash at about 1:15 p.m. at the entrance to Belladel Plaza, across from Trinity Lutheran Church.

Firefighters from Marion County Fire Rescue worked diligently to extricate an injured person from a red four-door Toyota. The extrication took more than 30 minutes of delicate work on behalf of the crew. The airbags in the vehicle had deployed.

A woman who had been driving the car apparently had been able to free herself from the vehicle. A passenger had to be extricated. Both the driver and passenger were taken from the scene by ambualnce…
