First Friday Night Lights of Sumrall era feels like a turning point

Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose. Friday Night Lights is back in Gainesville.

While the premier summer recruiting camp never truly left Florida, the event has lost some of the luster established in the Urban Meyer years — back when that opening line was actually relevant, and the hit NBC show was at its peak.

Blue-chip recruit attendance decreased over the years, particularly during the Dan Mullen and Billy Napier eras. Jon Sumrall’s staff has hit the ground running on the recruiting trail, however, and last Friday’s event featured one of the most stacked lineups in recent memory…
