Federal grand jury indicts Trenton man on child exploitation charges

A federal grand jury has indicted a Trenton man on multiple child exploitation charges, including 13 counts of production of child sexual abuse material and one count of possession of child sexual abuse material.

According to a Northern District of Florida U.S. Attorney’s Office press release sent on Wednesday, Bryan James Shuping, 58, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Midori A. Lowry in federal court in Gainesville for his arraignment following the indictment, according to U.S. Attorney John Heekin of the Northern District of Florida.

Shuping was arrested by Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers in September 2025 after he was caught taking photos of minors in a Publix grocery store. Surveillance footage inside Publix caught Shuping taking photos of the minor, and after officers searched his phone, they found nine nude photos of underage males.

Shuping is scheduled to stand trial at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 2 before Chief U.S. District Judge Allen Winsor in Gainesville…
