By the time a Dodge Ram driver saw a Volkswagen Jetta coming toward him on Interstate 75, other motorists had already warned troopers that something was wrong.
Florida Highway Patrol had received reports of a car traveling south in the northbound lanes near Gainesville early Monday and issued a BOLO for a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. Just before 2:30 a.m., the two vehicles met near the State Road 26 interchange.
