GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Today, GRACE Marketplace received a donation from the American Nephrology Nurses Association, North Central Florida Chapter 209. The check is part of the association’s “Feed Your Kidneys” program, designed to improve the diet of patients with kidney disease. Community Engagement Coordinator Cesar Zamora, who received the $1,000 check, said that the money would be used to improve meals for at-risk guests at the facility.
Ana Perryman, president-elect of the chapter, has specialized in dialysis and kidney work for 38 years. She explained the importance of diet: “They need protein first, and specific vegetables and fruits. Diabetes is the number one cause of kidney failure, so we want to keep their blood sugars stable.”…
