Alachua County, Gainesville leaders to discuss repurposing vacant buildings for homeless families

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Local leaders will meet Friday morning at the United Way office to explore collaborative solutions for student and family homelessness across North Central Florida, including assessing whether vacant public facilities could serve as shelters.

The two-hour session, scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon, will bring together representatives from the Alachua County Commission, Gainesville City Commission, School Board of Alachua County, Children’s Trust of Alachua County, Keys to Home Continuum of Care, and the Taskforce for Ending Homelessness.
