Luis Alejandro Lozano-Figueroa, 20, and Mario Alberto Paz-Gil, 19, were arrested by Orange County Sheriff’s deputies
Two men were arrested Sunday morning for allegedly street racing on the Florida Turnpike , hitting a top speed of 199 mph in a 70 mph zone.
Luis Alejandro Lozano-Figueroa, 20, and Mario Alberto Paz-Gil, 19, were arrested by Orange County Sheriff’s deputies. The sheriff’s office began receiving calls from residents about several vehicles street racing and having street takeovers in the area of Lake Mary Jane.
Deputies later spotted a red Chevrolet Camaro and a black vehicle drag-racing side by side, the arrest affidavit stated. The Camaro then entered onto the southbound Turnpike, where deputies say they eventually clocked it at 199 mph.
Lozano-Figueroa, who was identified as the driver, was charged with racing on a highway. Paz-Gil was charged with riding as a passenger during street racing.
Both were booked into the Osceola County Jail. A 16-year-old passenger who was also in the car was detained and later released to their mother,
