Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida has been awarded a $29,500 grant from State Farm, a contribution that will help provide over 118,000 meals to individuals and families facing hunger in Marion, Lake, and Volusia counties.
This recent grant highlights State Farm’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities. In addition to the financial donation, State Farm agents and employees volunteered their time during a special service event on April 22. Team members gathered at Second Harvest’s main distribution center, where they sorted and packed donated food for distribution.
“Forging new community partnerships like this one with State Farm is vital to sustaining hunger relief efforts,” Derrick Chubbs, President and CEO at Second Harvest said. “With one in eight Central Floridians facing food insecurity, every dollar donated, and every volunteer hour served, makes a meaningful difference.
