Two killed in vintage World War II-era plane crash near Gainesville, officials say

WILLISTON, Fla. (CBS12) — Two people were killed after a small single-engine plane crashed Monday afternoon in a rural area near Gainesville.

According to officers with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Northeast 30th Street and 114th Avenue, several miles from Williston regional Airport.

Authorities identified the vintage plane as a single-engine, a model used as a U.S. military training aircraft during World War II…
