A Summerfield man and his Williston companion were arrested on drug charges after being stopped at the TA Travel Center in Wildwood.
A deputy stopped a dark Cadillac at the TA Travel Center on State Road 44, for stopping over a solid white line around 10:20 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. After approaching the vehicle, the deputy spoke to the occupants, 24-year-old Brandon Michael Joles and 33-year-old Destiny Nicole Humphreys-Ruetz.
Because Humphreys-Ruetz was driving, she was asked for her license. She reached around and moved some items in the back, during which the deputy noticed a pill bottle with a clear plastic baggie inside. This seemed to be an attempt at hiding narcotics, the report said.
Another deputy subsequently responded to the traffic stop to assist in searching the vehicle. He found a clear plastic baggie of marijuana in the center console, right above Joles’s ID. A record check showed he had an expired medical marijuana card, the report said…
