MARION COUNTY, Fla. — The negotiations for the professional firefighters of Marion County are over. The union has reached a tentative agreement with the department and Marion County officials.
The proposed agreement includes a $20,000 salary increase for all firefighters, paramedics and emergency medical technicians. It also calls for a 24-hour-on/72-hour-off work schedule and 80 hours of paid time off each year. Currently, firefighters are working 56-hour workweeks.
