Pair in golf cart arrested with narcotics at restaurant in Brownwood

An Ocala man and his Wildwood companion were arrested on drug charges after being stopped in a golf cart in the parking lot of a restaurant at Brownwood.

An officer observed a blue Yamaha golf cart traveling west on State Road 44 around 11 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Its occupants, 39-year-old Christopher Cody Adams and 44-year-old April Michelle Beal, then entered the marked crosswalk and the straight travel lane of Meggison Road.

The officer subsequently stopped the golf cart at Gator’s Dockside in Brownwood. After requesting ID, he saw Adams pull out suboxone from his left front shorts pocket and a small white container of marijuana from a small black fanny pack. He claimed to have prescriptions for both, the report said.

However, his medical marijuana card had no active orders, meaning he should not have had marijuana. The last order for medical marijuana was in Oct. 2025. Additionally, a check of Adam’s information determined he was currently on felony probation for the sale/manufacture/delivery of cocaine in Marion County until Sept. 8, 2030, the report said…
