Tempe says it is taking steps to minimize disturbances to the Los Guanacos archaeological site as the city works with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to upgrade the nearby Kyrene Water Reclamation Facility.
Officials are reaching out to agencies and tribes, as the project may affect the site where the Ancestral O’odham people once lived.
