DUET honors volunteer from Scottsdale

Duet: Partners In Health & Aging had a Volunteer Appreciation Event on Sunday, April 14 at Church of Beatitudes in Phoenix with over 80 volunteers in attendance.

Each year, the celebration gives Duet a chance to honor all the outstanding volunteers who help homebound seniors – “neighbors” – needing rides to the grocery store, doctor’s appointments, or friendly visiting, according to a press release.

This year, they honored long-time volunteers from Scottsdale and Glendale.

Sue Bai, a Scottsdale resident, started volunteering with Duet in 1990, after hearing about the nonprofit’s services at her church.

Over the past 34 years, Bai has cultivated a notable and diverse relationship with Duet—you might even call her a “Super Supporter”. Not satisfied to volunteer one single form of service, Sue has helped 20 neighbors (most of which are ongoing matches) with assistance from transportation and grocery shopping to paperwork and respite. She once remarked that her “why” for volunteering was to “help others to achieve meaningful life experiences.”
