Chandler Unified School District starts career skill training in elementary schools

Chandler Unified School District is starting a new pilot program to help prepare students for the jobs of the future. What makes this program stand apart is it is designed for elementary school students.

Staff briefed the CUSD Governing Board at an April 8 study session on the pilot program currently underway at 13 elementary schools. The program is planned to expand to all 31 elementary schools next year.

The CUSD Multimedia Career Awareness Curriculum begins with kindergarten students and continues through the fifth grade. Throughout that time, students are introduced to some professions, including pastry chef, police officer, lemonade stand manager and roller coaster designer…
