Scottsdale Gridlock As Major Crash Shuts Shea And Scottsdale

An early morning crash involving multiple vehicles shut down the busy intersection of Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard on Wednesday, sending four people to local hospitals and choking off a key crossroads in central Scottsdale. Police said two victims were transported with life-threatening injuries and two others with serious injuries, while emergency crews stayed on scene and the city warned drivers to brace for extended delays as investigators worked the crash site.

The Scottsdale Police Department posted a traffic alert on X, warning that the intersection would be closed for several hours while officers investigated and urging drivers to steer clear. The agency reported eastbound Shea closed at 71st Place, westbound Shea at 72nd Place, northbound Scottsdale Road at Gold Dust Avenue and southbound Scottsdale Road at Mescal, and asked motorists to avoid the area, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.
