GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A crash involving a semi-truck and three cars Friday evening served as a reminder of the challenges drivers continue to face in the I-96 construction zone between Grand Rapids and Lansing.
The crash happened within the active work zone where the Michigan Department of Transportation is in the middle of a multi-year reconstruction project to rebuild the nine miles of the highway between Bliss Road and Sunfield Road.

As crews work to improve the road, one lane is open for eastbound traffic and two for westbound traffic, creating slow downs and backups.
