Grand Rapids court announces late fee, penalty amnesty

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — If you’re late paying off traffic tickets or court fines incurred in Grand Rapids, a program at the city’s district court may offer you a reprieve.

The 61st District Court in the city of Grand Rapids announced a monthlong amnesty program aimed at resolving warrants and settling old court financial obligations while waiving late fees and penalties.

The 2026 Amnesty Program gives all people with adjudicated misdemeanor cases, traffic tickets and civil infractions, including those with bench warrants for failure to pay, the opportunity to pay the original amount of the ticket or financial assessment. All late, bench warrant and show cause fees will be waived for those who qualify throughout the month of June. Bench warrants for failure to appear will also be cancelled for those who pay the full original amount requested by the court…
