KENTWOOD, MI – Construction is in the final stages on the $31 million new Kentwood Community Center as city officials prepare to welcome the public into the facility this fall.
The new 67,500-square-foot facility at 4755 Walma Ave. SE will feature unique amenities like a multisport simulator, a bistro/café and a wedding and event venue with capacity for 175 guests. It will also have a fitness center, full-sized basketball courts and an indoor walking track.
Construction crews are on target for a mid-July move-in by city staff and a Sept. 26 opening to the public, said Kentwood Parks and Recreation Director Val Romeo. Memberships go on sale June 6 with monthly rates starting at $30 for seniors 55 and up and $40 for all other Kentwood residents…
