GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A driver who struck and killed a bicyclist near downtown Grand Rapids has been sentenced to a year in jail for the January 2025 crash.
Kaleb Lloyd Stressman-Pillot, 35, was booked into the Kent County jail Wednesday. He was credited for two days already served. In addition to jail, he has to pay $2,775 in fines and costs.
In April, jurors in Grand Rapids District Court found Stressman-Pillot guilty of moving violation causing death. The trial lasted two days.
Steve Dowhan, 53, was hit and killed the evening of Jan. 11, 2025, as he rode his bicycle west on Pearl Street NW near the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. A stagehand for venues in downtown Grand Rapids, Dowhan had just finished a job at DeVos Place.
