GVSU announces closure of Walker surplus store

WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Valley State University announced the upcoming closure of its longtime Walker-based surplus store.

Following an announcement on social media earlier this week, GVSU confirmed that its surplus store is slated to close “on or about” July 1. The store has served the greater Grand Rapids community for years offering used electronics, furniture and school supplies at a steep discount. A recent sale offered two Dell computer monitors and a keyboard for $30.

The store is being closed as part of an effort to “streamline” operations and cut costs, the university told News 8. Items not purchased by the store’s closing date will be donated to local nonprofits or disposed of if they cannot be donated…
