‘I kept the faith’: Business owner returns to Boston Square with ice cream parlor

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Years after health problems forced her to shut down her café, a Boston Square business owner is up and running once more, serving ice cream in the Grand Rapids neighborhood.

Boston Square Ice Cream Parlor celebrated its grand opening last week at 1553 Kalamazoo Ave. SE near Boston Street SE.

For owner Teresa Folden, it was a long-awaited return. For years, she ran Boston Soul Café in the same building. But in 2021, she had to shut the café down.

“I was in the hospital, had brain surgery. So six years, I was down,” Folden told News 8.

During those years, she leased out the building to other businesses. But she kept dreaming of her café…
