GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Crews are continuing to search for a man last seen swimming in the Grand River near Johnson Park as divers leave the water for the evening, police say.
The man was last seen attempting to swim across the Grand River near Wilson Avenue and Indian Mounds Drive, around 12:30 p.m., police said in a release. Officials have not released his identity, but he is described as a light-skinned Black man wearing camouflage shorts.
Multiple agencies, including the Grandville Police Department, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol and state police, spent several hours searching the water near Johnson Park for signs of the man Friday afternoon. Grandville police told News 8 they were suspending some of their efforts for the evening, including pulling divers out of the water, around 5 p.m. due to the possibility of incoming weather and diminishing daylight.
The public is asked to avoid the area while the search is ongoing. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Grandville Police Department…
