GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The son of a woman killed outside a Grand Rapids elementary school during an argument over a soccer game testified at a hearing Monday that he saw his friend get shot, but initially didn’t realize his mother had been hit, too.
Several children and teenagers took the stand Monday to testify to the events that led up to the May 5 shooting outside Southwest Elementary School that killed Savanah Rubio, a mother of seven, and 15-year-old Jeremiah Cuevas-Griffin, including Rubio’s son and the alleged shooter’s younger brother.
Rubio’s teenage son testified that he saw 18-year-old Rafael Martinez-Lopez take out a gun and shoot Jeremiah during an argument over a soccer game involving Martinez-Lopez’s younger brother…
