Grandville PD: Crash sends 2 to hospital, shuts down 28th Street

GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say an 80-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition Saturday after a crash in Grandville.

It happened around 12:10 p.m. on the 3100 block of 28th Street SW, near Ivanrest Avenue SW, according to a release from the Grandville Police Department.

Police say an 80-year-old Grand Rapids woman entered 28th Street from a parking lot and was hit by another car that was heading west on 28th Street.

The Grand Rapids woman had to be freed from her vehicle, the release says. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while the other driver — identified by police as a 29-year-old Wyoming man — was taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to the police department.

Police say they’re still investigating the crash, but they don’t believe alcohol was involved.

28th Street was closed for nearly three hours after the crash but has since reopened, police say.
