To remedy this, the city has created a new parking reservation system that allows would-be concert or sports game attendees to ensure there will be a spot waiting for them downtown.

Grand Rapids’s New Parking System

In an attempt to control traffic downtown as much as possible, the City has created both a new reservation system and a new venue parking “access guide” to show visitors to downtown the closest parking areas, the parking prices, and the distances from the venue for their event. It’s a pretty nifty page.

But the reservation system is what is truly quite nifty. The parking reservation page lists all upcoming events at the four major venues in Grand Rapids (Acrisure Amphitheater, Van Andel Arena, Amway Stadium, and DeVos Place).

From there, it brings up a map showing nearby city-owned parking lots and ramps, with a parking pass available for reservation. Reservations can be made up to a month in advance
