Grand Rapids man urges airlines to improve handling of mobility devices after power wheelchair damaged

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids man is calling for changes to how airlines handle mobility devices after his power wheelchair was damaged on a recent American Airlines flight.

Jon Krieger and his partner, Amy Frei, flew from Detroit to Phoenix on March 5 after months of planning the trip. Because Krieger has cerebral palsy, the couple said they took extra steps to coordinate accommodations with the airline, including arrangements for transporting his power wheelchair.
