Today, we’re looking at Grand Rapids’ longest-running concert venue, which recently celebrated its 50th year and has four stages that have hosted many acts that now sell out arenas: The Intersection.

The Intersection: A Brief History

Many of us know The Intersection for its location on the corner of Cherry St. and Caesar Chavez Ave, but that isn’t where it got its start. Back in 1972, The Intersection originally opened on the other side of town in Eastown at 1520 Wealthy St SE, the current home of Eastown Bar & Grill. However, it outgrew the building and moved to its current location, where it’s been since 2004.

In 2018, the Intersection expanded to add two additional venues in its basement, bringing its offerings to four stages: the ~1,500-person Intersection (Showroom), the new ~800-person Elevation, the ~400-person The Stache, and a VIP/pre & post-show/small ~200-person venue called The Mint.
