GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A delivery driver with a 150-pound stack of beer helped thwart an armed robbery at a Burton Heights party store Friday morning.
It happened at Bottle House on South Division Avenue south of Burton Street. According to the Grand Rapids Police Department and a store worker, a man entered the business shortly before 9 a.m. and, after placing a bottle of wine on the counter, pulled out a knife.
Knife in hand, the suspect demanded money from the register, according to a police spokeswoman. The clerk, who didn’t want to go on camera because he said he was still shaken hours later, told News 8 he thought he was going to get stabbed.
