GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On the campaign trail as he runs for governor, U.S. Rep. John James, R-St. Clair Shores, recently visited Grand Rapids.

He talked about his priorities for Michigan and said he thinks people want a return to fundamentals.

“People are excited for change. People feel like there has been kind of a going away from the fundamentals: The fundamentals truly of academic excellence, economic mobility, public safety, accountable government, and healthy families. This is the reason that people came to Michigan from all over the world and from all over the country. Families like mine, my dad came up from the Jim Crow South … not just for a better job, but for a better life. I feel like his grandchildren, my children, may have to leave to find it,” James said…
