Appleton firefighters rescue cat from tree after police call

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – The Appleton Police Department shared a lighthearted moment on social media this week after a familiar scenario played out involving their counterparts at the Appleton Fire Department.

“Breaking news, the Appleton Fire Department has officially confirmed the rumor,” the police department posted. “Yes, firefighters really do rescue cats from trees.”

On Monday, an Appleton police officer requested assistance after a cat climbed a tree while trying to escape a nearby dog.

Firefighters responded and safely brought the cat back down, preserving what police jokingly called a tradition as old as the fire service itself.
