APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – If you’re familiar with age-old adages, then maybe you’re familiar about the one that says not to touch a baby bird otherwise the mother will smell your scent and reject it. Well, that was not the case for an Appleton Community Service Officer on Saturday morning.
The CSO responded to the Appleton Public Library after a young seagull, too young to fly, found itself stranded on the sidewalk below its nest at the top of the building.

As the befuddled bird flapped around, its parents made their feelings known, circling overhead and screeching, swooping down to anyone who neared the youngster.
The CSO had no apprehension, however, and safely captured the seagull and returned it to the roof, reuniting a feathered family and marking another successful community adventure…
