ONEIDA (WLUK) — A traditional Oneida Nation weekend has come once again, as it kicked off the 52nd Annual Oneida Nation Pow Wow Friday night.
Ceremonies began at 7:00 p.m. Friday with an eagle release in collaboration with Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. It was immediately followed by the first Grand Entry of the event.
During a Grand Entry, dancers from each Pow Wow competition enter the circle. Judges watch the dancers across each Grand Entry over the weekend.
Other dance event team specials are also held over the weekend, including men’s grass dances and women’s jingle dances. A drum contest is also held.
Food and craft vendors are also on scene at Norbert Hill Center at N7210 Seminary Road…
