KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WBAY) – More than 100 Outagamie County residents are learning what the end of the Supportive Home Care program could mean for them.
The county announced last month it will be moving participants to federally funded programs. Some residents worry they could lose care they trust and may not be able to afford replacement services.
Program dates back more than two decades
Outagamie County Health & Human Services Director Beth Roberts said Supportive Home Care is a program most counties started when there was a waiting list for services for elderly residents. When Family Care started in Wisconsin, counties began switching to Family Care to fund those services, either ending their programs or slowly phasing them out, Roberts said.
