KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) – The only truck used by St. Vincent de Paul in Kaukauna has broken down, prompting volunteers to seek community help finding a replacement before their mission is forced to slow down.

Volunteers at the Kaukauna thrift store said they learned last week that the organization’s box truck, used since about 2003, could no longer safely operate because of extensive mechanical and structural issues.
“To make the gas pedal work, you had to first take your foot and lift it up and then you could push it down,” volunteer Mary Vander Loop said. “The brakes and wipers don’t work. It’s rusted to such a degree that it can’t be fixed.”
The truck is used daily to pick up donations, move furniture and haul recyclable materials. Volunteers said that without it, the nonprofit’s ability to collect donations and support families in need could be significantly impacted…
