HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies this evening with temperatures falling into the mid-80s by 8 PM. Overnight, humidity will increase, and temperatures fall into the upper 60s by early Monday morning.
A level 2, slight risk for severe weather is in place for the entire Piedmont Triad on Monday due to the potential for scattered strong to severe storms in the afternoon and evening hours. Before the storms develop in the second half of the day, we’ll begin Monday with mostly sunny skies, which will create a more unstable atmosphere and provide more “fuel” for thunderstorms. We’ll also see temperatures reach the low to mid-90s before storms arrive in the afternoon.
Storm timing on Monday looks to be anytime between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. with the better chance during the evening commute and dinnertime hours for the Triad. The main threat with any stronger storms will be damaging winds up to 60 mph. If the kids have been out in the yard this weekend playing, make sure toys, furniture and tie down any loose objects or bring them inside, just in case.
