HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A few stray showers and storms have been able to form this afternoon in our northern counties along the NC/VA state line. The potential for a few severe storms remains in those same counties this evening. However, once we lose the heat from the day, the potential for storms will drop off.
The majority of us remain completely dry and just downright hot. Temperatures reached the upper 90s this afternoon, nearing the triple digits for the third straight day and setting another record high temperature.
An extreme heat warning remains in place until 8 pm. For those heading out to watch fireworks tonight, please make sure you have water and even a fan with you. We’ll continue to see temperatures in the 90s until nearly 9 PM…
