Plans for $30 million downtown High Point hotel move forward

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A new $30 million hotel is coming to downtown High Point.

There is a new vision for a parking lot and a gravel lot near Truist Point Stadium. City council leaders approved the hotel development company, Tara Investments, to purchase the city-owned lots along North Elm Street and Gatewood Avenue on Monday.

Council leaders approved a revised purchase and sale agreement with the company. The revised agreement increased the purchase price from $1 million to $1.2 million. The agreement also requires the company to begin building within four years…
