The Wyndham Championship teed off Wednesday at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. While today’s golfers are chasing their own place in history, one PGA Tour record in Greensboro still stands untouched.
The late golf Hall of Famer Sam Snead set records during the 1965 Greater Greensboro Open, and 61 years later, the marks still have not been broken. Snead won the event for the eighth time that year when the tournament was still known as the Greater Greensboro Open.
Snead still holds the PGA Tour record for most wins at a single event. Only Tiger Woods has matched him, doing it at Firestone and Bay Hill. That 1965 win also made Snead the oldest winner in PGA Tour history…
