Wet and cool first weekend of October in central NC

Saturday will start with a cold front moving through the area during the morning. Temperatures could still climb to near 80° by noon before cooler air begins moving in from the north during the afternoon. A stray shower is possible in the morning, but rain chances will increase through the afternoon and into the overnight hours.

Sunday will be a wet day across central North Carolina, with periods of rain continuing through the morning and afternoon before gradually becoming lighter and more scattered Sunday evening. Some of the rain could be heavy at times, especially during the morning. Severe weather is not expected Saturday or Sunday. Rainfall totals should exceed 1 inch in many areas, with some locations potentially approaching 3 inches. As always, rainfall amounts will vary, with some areas receiving significantly more than others.

A secondary dry front will move through Monday, helping reinforce the cooler air. Highs will stay in the upper 60s on Monday before gradually warming back into the 70s through the rest of the week. Overnight lows will generally be in the 40s and 50s…
