‘Didn’t know what to do,’ says woman whose HOA threatened to take her home over ‘missed payments’ – but she had receipts

A HOMEOWNER has told how she was threatened with foreclosure after her Home Owner’s Association (HOA) claimed she had not paid her fees on time.

Delta Adams of Greensboro, North Carolina, had set up automatic payments from her bank account for the monthly $150 HOA fee.

Despite having her payment in place, Adams was notified that she was being fined for failing to complete the last three HOA payments.

“I thought it was an error at first. I was like that’s not right,” Adams told CBS affiliate WFMY.

When Adams called the management company to dispute the charges, she was told they would investigate the issue and contact her with more information.

However, the next time she heard from the management company, she was given a letter threatening foreclosure and legal fees.

“I didn’t know what to do. I was stuck. I even called the headquarters of (my) bank,” Adams told WFMY.

Adams swiftly reached out to HOA with bank documentation proving she had not missed any of her payments.
